I've seen glimpses of what Coates calls the peppermint and backyard barbecue scented Dream. Being gay forces you to notice at least some of it. Coates describes this pervasive dimension, the water in our fishbowl, with an accuracy that is vastly comforting(that it is seen) and deeply sad(that it looks so unshakeable) at the same time.
