The Apollo program from the engineers' point of view. This and The Making of the Atomic Bomb by Richards Rhodes are the best books I've read about what it means to undertake a massive engineering project. Made me realize how high the bar is for really excellent systems engineering. And to think Apollo 11 happened something like 25 Moore's Law doublings (or should I say halvings?) ago!
